OMNi Edinburgh, proudly announced a remarkable milestone for the year 2023. Home to popular brands such as Nando’s, Vue cinema, Escape Hunt, and Boom Battle Bar, OMNi Edinburgh, celebrated a record-breaking footfall year in 2023.

Our leisure and entertainment destination, located in the heart of Edinburgh city centre, welcomed a staggering 4.2 million visitors last year – the largest footfall year since opening in 2002. A 29% increase year-on-year and a 32% increase versus 2019, pre-pandemic.

The news emphasises that now more than ever, many are looking to spend on experiences and celebrating occasions.

Edinburgh Street Food was the latest brand offer to join the line-up in February 2023. With its vibrant market atmosphere and 10 quality food vendors to choose from, the street food offer has been a huge hit with OMNi Edinburgh visitors.

Martin Botha, OMNi Edinburgh General Manager, said:We’re delighted to have welcomed a record-breaking number of visitors in 2023. More than ever, people are on the lookout for valuable experiences with friends and family, and we strive to provide our visitors with a place for all occasions.

This year will see us introduce at least two new brands to the line-up; it’s important to keep our offer fresh and exciting for our visitors.

Looking ahead, OMNi Edinburgh is poised to elevate its offerings further with the introduction of two exciting brands. Contemporary Japanese restaurant Mizu and renowned car hire brand Sixt are slated to join the OMNi family in the upcoming months, and are expected to generate more than 15 jobs for the local area.

Various projects have taken place within the destination and the surrounding area, contributing to the success of 2023.

A £2m refurbishment project at Vue was completed in December 2023, to include luxury reclining seats at the 12-screen multiplex cinema. As part of the Trams to Newhaven project that launched in June 2023, the new Picardy Place tram stop situated directly outside OMNi has improved an already impressive public transport hub. Edinburgh Playhouse, Scotland’s largest theatre and OMNi neighbour, completed a refurbishment in August 2023 and now boasts over 3,000 seats.
